Fire-rated assemblies aren't optional — they're inspected. We install to the listed assembly so it passes the first time.
A fire-rated assembly is only rated if it's built the way it was tested. Substituting a material, changing a fastener spacing, or omitting a component voids the listing — and the inspector will catch it, or worse, it won't perform in an actual fire.
We keep the UL or similar listing documentation on site with the crew, install to the exact detail, and hand over the documentation at closeout.
Perimeter fire containment at the slab edge, head-of-wall joints, and through-penetration firestopping all rely on mineral wool compressed to specified density plus the correct sealant. Compression ratio matters. Depth matters. We measure both rather than eyeballing them.
Sprayed fire-resistive materials on structural steel are applied to a specified thickness based on the member's weight-to-heated-perimeter ratio and the required hourly rating. Thickness gets measured and documented at the specified frequency — that documentation is what the inspector actually reviews.
Commercial and multifamily construction is full of rated separations: between units, between occupancies, around stairs and elevator shafts, around mechanical rooms. Each has a required rating and a listed assembly. We coordinate these with the framing and drywall trades so the sequence works and nothing has to be opened back up.

Rated by hourly fire resistance, typically 1 to 4 hours. In Florida's Climate Zone 1 attic assemblies must reach R-30, and in Climate Zone 2 R-38, with R-49 a common practical target, and we'll size the assembly to hit your code requirement or your performance goal.
